Police Officer Jeremy Martin Wilkins

Chandler Police Department, Arizona

EOW: Dec. 17, 2021 | Age: 46 | Tour: 21 years

Police Officer Jeremy Martin died from complications as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty while serving an arrest warrant at 498 South Arizona Avenue in Chandler. Officer Martin had served with the Chandler Police Department for nine years and had previously served the Prescott Valley Police Department for four years. He had also served as a police officer in Michigan with the Detroit Police Department for two years, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Department for four years, and the St. Louis Police Department for two years. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, and father. Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.

Officer Chad P. Christiansen

Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs - Volk Field Security Forces, Wisconsin

Officer Chad Christiansen died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty while working at 100 Independence Drive in Camp Douglas. Officer Christiansen had served with the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs - Volk Field Security Forces for two years and was deputized by the Juneau County Sheriff's Office. He is survived by his parents and two brothers. Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.

Police Officer Keona Holley

Baltimore City Police Department, Maryland

EOW: Dec. 23, 2021 | Age: 39 | Tour: 2 years

Police Officer Keona Holley succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained on December 16th, 2021, when she was ambushed in the 4400 block of Pennington Avenue. She was sitting in her patrol car at about 1:30 am when two men approached from behind and opened fire, shooting her multiple times. Both men then went to another location approximately 10 miles away where they murdered another man who owed one of them $100. Officer Holley was transported to a local hospital where she remained in critical condition until succumbing to her wounds on December 23rd, 2021. Both suspects were arrested several days after the initial shooting and charged in connection with both incidents. Officer Holley had served with the Baltimore City Police Department for two years. She is survived by her four children, parents, and sister.

Agent José Ferrer-Pabón

Puerto Rico Police Department, Puerto Rico

Agent José Ferrer-Pabón was killed in a vehicle crash on PR-110 near Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, at about 12:30 am. He was returning to the station at the end of his shift when an oncoming vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and struck his patrol car head-on. Agent Ferrer-Pabón and both occupants of the other vehicle were killed in the collision. Agent Ferrer-Pabón was assigned to the Stolen Vehicles Division.

Lieutenant Matthew A. Vogel

Hudson County Sheriff's Office, New Jersey

Lieutenant Matthew Vogel died from complications as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty while working at the Operations Division at 257 Cornelison Avenue in Jersey City. Lieutenant Vogel had served with the Hudson County Sheriff's Office for 22 years and had been a Special Weapons and Tactical commander. He is survived by his mother, stepfather, and brother. Beginning in early 2020, due to the requirements of their job, thousands of law enforcement officers and other first responders throughout the United States contracted COVID-19 during the worldwide pandemic. Hundreds of law enforcement officers died from medical complications as a result of contracting the virus while remaining on duty and interacting with the community.

Deputy Sheriff Sean Riley

Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Illinois

Deputy Sheriff Sean Riley was shot and killed after responding to assist a motorist near mile marker 115 on I-64 at about 5:00 am. Another officer responding to back him up found him suffering from fatal gunshot wounds and his patrol car was missing. The subject later abandoned the patrol car on I-64 before fleeing to St. Peters, Missouri, where he carjacked and shot a citizen. The man then abandoned the vehicle before stealing another vehicle and returning to Illinois. He was taken into custody in the early afternoon.

Assistant Chief Bryant Gladney

Boone County Fire Protection District , Missouri

On Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, Assistant Chief Bryant Gladney was at the scene of a vehicle accident on Interstate 70. A westbound tractor-trailer hit his staff SUV at high speed before hitting a University Hospital ambulance and the vehicle involved in the original crash. Assistant Chief Gladney was extricated and rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Firefighter/EMT Mashawn J. Plummer

Chicago Fire Department, Illinois

On Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, Firefighter/EMT Mashawn J. Plummer was at the scene of a two story apartment building fire when he suffered a medical emergency. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he remained until passing away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021. The fire also took the life of a civilian and injured two others.

EMT Joshua Zaborowski

Angelina County, Texas

EOW: Dec. 23, 2021 | Age: 30 | Tour: None

EMT Joshua Zaborowski, 30, was killed when the ambulance he was driving left the roadway and overturned. Zaborowski was transporting a patient from Jasper county to Lufkin for Allegiance Mobile Health, KLTV reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 1 a.m. Members from Angelina County Sheriff’s office and the Fuller Springs Volunteer Fire department responded to the wreck. DPS reported Zaborowski was driving north on US 69, when he veered into the southbound lane and struck an SUV, continuing on briefly before leaving the road and overturning. A passenger, the patient on board and the driver of the SUV were taken to a Lufkin hospital, according to the KLTV report.
