Captain William Riley Hargraves

Osage County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma

Captain Willy Hargraves was killed in a vehicle crash at the intersection of US Highway 60 and State Highway 18 at about 8:00 am. He was traveling eastbound when another car entered the highway from a stop sign, causing the collision. Captain Hargraves car struck a light pole after the initial collision. Captain Hargraves had served with the Osage County Sheriff's Office for 24 years. He is survived by his wife, three children, parents, and siblings.

Special Agent Jose Antonio Perez

Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida

EOW: Aug. 20, 2022 | Age: 55 | Tour: 39 Years

Special Agent Jose Perez succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile crash that occurred on August 2nd, 2022, at the intersection of NW 127th Avenue and NW 7th Terrace in West Miami-Dade. He was responding to an alarm at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Miami Regional Operations Center when another car struck his department vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he remained until succumbing to his injuries on August 20th, 2022. Special Agent Perez was a military veteran and had served in law enforcement for 30 years. He joined the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after retiring from the Miami Police Department as an assistant chief.

Sergeant Robert Blaine Swartz

Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma

EOW: Aug. 22, 2022 | Age: 58 | Tour: 24 years

Sergeant Bobby Swartz was shot and killed at about 1:15 pm as he and another deputy served eviction paperwork at a home in the 2200 block of Southwest 78th Street in Oklahoma City. During the course of the eviction, a male subject opened fire, wounding one of the deputies. The second deputy returned fire and attempted to pull the wounded deputy to safety when he was also shot. The man then fled in a pickup truck pulling a boat on a trailer. Officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department located the vehicle and began to pursue it. The driver shot at pursuing officers with a semi-automatic rifle during the pursuit. The man drove to the main gate of Tinker Air Force Base where he was taken into custody. Sergeant Swartz was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. Sergeant Swartz was a U.S Army veteran and had served with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Officer for almost 25 years.

Police Officer Ivan Mauricio Lopez

Mount Vernon Police Department, Alabama

EOW: Aug. 22, 2022 | Age: 50 | Tour: 12 years

Police Officer Ivan Lopez was killed in a vehicle crash at the intersection of Alabama Highway 59 and County Road 36, in Summerdale, at about 7:30 pm. A pickup truck driving on County Road 36 ran a stop sign at approximately 90 mph and struck Officer Lopez's patrol car, killing him instantly. The occupants of the other vehicle were injured in the crash. Officer Lopez had served with the Mount Vernon Police Department for 12 years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Detective Matthew Walker Blansett

Marion County Sheriff's Department, Tennessee

EOW: Aug. 23, 2022 | Age: 40 | Tour: 20 Years

Detective Matt Blansett and Sergeant Lee Russell of the Tennessee Highway Patrol were killed in a helicopter crash on Aetna Mountain in Marion County at about 4:00 pm. The Bell 206 helicopter struck high-tension power lines and crashed into a wooded area near mile marker 163 adjacent to I-24 and SR-134. Detective Blansett served with the Marion County Sheriff's Department for 20 years nd also served as a Marion County Commissioner. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee

EOW: Aug. 23, 2022 | Age: 35 | Tour: 12 Years

Sergeant Lee Russell and Detective Matt Blansett of the Marion County Sheriff's Department were killed in a helicopter crash on Aetna Mountain in Marion County at about 4:00 pm.
