Personnel at Kinnelon Volunteer Fire Company are preparing to offer a final salute to their lieutenant. After responding to a call on Nov. 18, Lt. Justin Bower, 30, was found unresponsive at his home. He could not be revived. Kinnelon Borough Mayor Jim Freda reflected after watching the escort Bower received. "Today I stood proud as I watched my good friend and Fireman Lt. Justin Bower as he returned home. As I stood and watched I had an extremely sad but proud feeling. Proud of the brotherhood that our Police and Firefighters have for each other. Proud that our town steps up for anyone in need..."
The Concord-Green Fire Department is out of service as firefighters mourn the loss of their chief and captain. Fire Chief Ralph Stegbauer and Capt. Jeffery Skaggs were killed Saturday morning while working on a radio tower at the station, WBNS reported. The two were on a lift in a tower basket several feet in the air when it tipped over and ejected them. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Fellow firefighters from the department were among the first to come to their aid. Later, the department was taken out of service, Crews from surrounding companies will be responding to calls. The governor ordered all flags in the state to be lowered to half-mast until sunset on the day of the funeral.

Texas firefighters are mourning the loss of a fire chief who collapsed and died after a working fire Saturday. Forest Bend Fire Chief John Norris died of an apparent heart attack at home after a structure fire in Friendswood, KPRC reported. A six-year veteran with the department, he became chief in September. Norris was with Houston Fire Department for 32 years and left last year. He is survived by his wife. Wendy Chang Norris and daughter, Catherine. Wendy is CEO of Texas Line of Duty Task Force.
