A St. Charles County Ambulance District paramedic was found unresponsive in the station's bunkroom Monday morning. When Paramedic Michael Clarke, 27, didn't respond to the bay to answer a call, his colleague went to look for him, according to Fox2 Now. “The crews at the base were taking care of him until they transported him to Barnes St. Peters, and that team assisted until they pronounced him,” Chief at St. Charles County Ambulance District Kelly Cope said. Clarke had been with district for two years, joining in November 2022. He was known for his friendly and positive attitude. Earlier this year, Clarke and two colleagues received recognition for their lifesaving efforts during a cardiac arrest incident in January. “He was a light in the room anytime you walked in, he always had a great attitude, he was an excellent part of our organization. We cannot certainly replace him. We’ll lean on our own family and try to support his family as best we can. It’s a loss we can’t replace,” Cope said.
